About LKMY
The Story Behind the Name

LKMY is pronounced alchemy and that was an intentional choice.

Alchemy is the ancient practice whose goal was to turn base materials into gold. It’s also the best metaphor Andrea has found for what she does: taking the hardest moments in a person’s professional life and helping them emerge from it stronger, clearer, and more powerful than before.

Growing Up Between Worlds

Andrea grew up in Bangkok, Thailand, the daughter of a Thai mother and American father, educated at an international Catholic school in a predominantly Buddhist country. From childhood, she understood what it meant to exist at the intersection of cultures, languages, and systems that don’t always speak the same language, which leads to misunderstandings.

That push and pull made her deeply attuned to how people misunderstand each other and how much damage that misunderstanding can cause.

She also watched her mother lose the legal right to own land in Thailand simply because she married a foreigner. That same law didn’t apply to Thai men. Andrea was young, but she understood: the law could either protect people or fail them and that gap was worth fighting for.

The Teen Pop Star Who Needed a Lawyer

At 15, Andrea released her debut album in Thailand and toured the country as a recording artist. It was exciting, and it was also her first real encounter with contract law.

She signed her first contract without an attorney. No one negotiated on her behalf. And buried in the fine print was a clause that would have required her to appear in a major national ad campaign for free.

When she found out, she was 16 years old. She was scared of being seen as difficult. She didn’t want to lose the label’s support. But she was lucky to have the guidance of someone in the industry who told her she had leverage. That she was wanted. That she could negotiate.

So she walked into that office alone and asked for what she was worth.
That experience never left her and it became the foundation for everything she does now.

From Bangkok to the UN to the Courtroom

After her album, Andrea moved to the United States for college. She thought she was headed for the State Department and wanted to become a diplomat so she interned at the United Nations, in the Office of the Special Advisor on Gender Issues.

But at that scale, change was slow and measured in decades. She wanted something more immediate and more personal.

Law gave her that. It brought together everything she cared about: intellectual rigor, conflict resolution, human psychology, women’s advocacy, and the ability to make a real difference to one person, one case, one negotiation at a time.

Why Employment Law. Why Women.

Andrea has seen firsthand what happens when women succeed and what’s lost when they don’t.

When a woman earns what she’s worth or successfully builds a business, the economic effect doesn’t stop with her. It moves through her household, her family, her community, and the economy. Women’s success has a multiplier effect that most people underestimate.

What LKMY Law Actually Does

Andrea brings a unique combination of elements to every matter that most attorneys don’t:

Legal strategy that is built for your actual goals, not just the legal outcome.

Human psychology because workplace conflict is never just about the facts. It’s about power, fear, identity, and what people do when they feel cornered.

A coaching lens because going through a hard legal process is also an opportunity. An opportunity to see where gaps exist, to build the muscle of advocating for yourself, and to come out the other side with skills you didn’t have before.

We turn conflict into clarity. Embattlement into empowerment. Ish into gold.

LKMY = Alchemy.

Because that’s the work we do. We take something difficult, a lawsuit, a wrongful termination, a hostile work environment, a business crisis and find the transformation inside it.

That doesn’t mean minimizing what happened. It means refusing to let it be the end of the story.
